I guess i am just a bit late in responding to your question
I was born and raised in Glendale, CA which is about 13 miles east of Los Angeles. My mother and her parents came to CA in the 30's and my grandfather built a beautiful Mediterranean style house. That is home to me.
Right before i left CA i lived in an apartment my father's law firm owned. It was an oceanfront on the second floor with the whole front of the living room being glass windows....what a view.
I moved to WA state when i was 28 and lived in Ellensburg for another 28 years. I often wondered what i was doing in the middle of the state with the ocean about 5 hours away. I went many, many years without visiting the ocean due to lack of money. Now my husband and i go to Lincoln City, Oregon every October for a week. I live in Selah, WA now which is only 30 miles from Ellensburg.
In 1984 my ex, the kids and I moved to Antioch, CA for two years. We enjoyed many fun days visiting San Francisco....just about my favorite city in the whole world. My youngest child was born there....so three of my children are native Californians. We returned to WA state in 1986 and soon divorced as he returned to drinking and i couldn't take any more of that.

Kathi,
How ironic! I said almost the same thing as you with regards to home. My idea of home is and always will be California, event hough I've lived in FL the last 5 years. Amazing how you can take the girl out of California, but you will never take California out of the girl.
What areas of CA did you live in? I was all over the state in the 28 years I lived there.

Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic." -- Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale

I often say "I want to go home" and when i think of home i think of California. I lived in the same home that my grandparents built in the 30's the whole time i was in Calif. I was born and raised there. Home is the beach to me--the So. Cal. beaches. The only time i felt at home in WA state was when i was with my children's dad. And that was 19 years ago after spending 15 years together. I don't feel at home where i currently live.
