| Abilene Zoo: Part One (Pictures) | | Sunday, March 16, 2008 |
The last time I visited the Abilene Zoo, I was probably in the 8th grade (almost 12 years--damn I feel old now). But I must say, I'm very impressed with it, especially for being such a small zoo and older at that. But they are re-doing a lot of their stuff and have a number of animals that the Ft Worth Zoo doesn't have. The baby black rhino that was born at the Ft Worth Zoo is now at the Abilene Zoo. And they're getting a female from somewhere else, so they can be a part of the Species Survival Program. In the summer, the Abilene Zoo is getting a pair of Maned Wolves, so I'll certainly be going back to get photos of those guys. *smiles*
Alright, on to the photos.
Spotted Hyena:
I really don't care for Hyenas. At all.
The Great Horned Owl was very active:
And doesn't he just look like he's angry with me in these two photos?
East African Crowned Crane:
Beaded Lizard:
Next up is the Peacock -->
To hear the sound of the wolf is to experience a singularly moving sensual experience of wilderness. Sound of unreachable quality, seeming weird and inhuman. But not unearthly. For it is of the essence of the creature wolf: of his spirit, his being, his truth. A transcendental song that took form uncounted millennia before time was defined. Something elemental. A living call from the past. A revelation of the very Universe.

A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretense and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself.
