No, I am not teaching this semester. My regular job has been extremely hectic over the past two months as I have been busy organizing the eight juried exhibits we are sponsoring at our convention this summer. At the same time, the registration numbers are way down this year, (we think as an overall part of the economic slow-down), so this is not looking good for the long-term health of the organization. Starting this week, everyone has had their hours cut back and some other rather drastic cost-cutting measures are taking place. Since I officially went part-time last fall, the hours reduction doesn't affect me all that much, but morale is taking a big hit for the formally full-time people who can't really afford to take a 20% pay cut. This is one of the life changes on my plate.
I am happy for you to have the opportunity to have the big picture assessed. I wish everyone could easily get a clear picture when there are health issues to be dealt with. We are not so fortunate here. My mother has been diagnosed with acute leukemia and has refused the chemotherapy treatment her oncologist has recommended on the advice of her primary care physician. She is trying holistic approaches but ended up in the hospital this weekend with some blood blisters in her mouth. It is a difficult time.

I've been gone for a little while but have decided to rejoin the
living again. There are several big issues currently happening in my
personal life and I felt a need to step away to try to determine what
all was happening, and which things I have some control over and which
things I can't do anything about. It is an ongoing process, but for
now, I am declaring a moratorium on my short stint as a hermit,(turns
out being semi-reclusive is not really all that helpful). I've missed
your collective voices, even though I am overwhelmed at times by the
volume, and I notice that there are some new ones here in the choir.
