Probably the thing that has bothered me most this week has been dealing with Comcast -- cable and internet. What a frustrating experience that has been and everytime I'd hang up the phone I'd rant and rave about "What a bunch of jerks" "how stupid can you get" "Why is this woman out to get me?"
But .... I've worked retail and I know the person on the phone is not in charge of making decisions or setting standards. So (hard as it is, lol) I am very careful to speak nicely to the person on the phone and make sure I mention that as angry as I am, I don't blame her/him.
Wait, that sounds like I'm tooting my horn and I don't mean to. Just making the point that maybe that difficult customer never worked retail. Or maybe she/he does, and had a really bad day and no one else to vent towards but you.
When I worked for Pac Bell a customer walked straight up to me with an armload of phones and cords and yelled at me, "W.t.f. are you going to do about this?" That was pretty awful.
And parents tend to blame me daily 'cause their kids can't read.
We're just pawns in the system, Nona. Hope you're feeling better now.
