Many thanks for the welcome. I appreciate it.
I read your defination of the wolf and his/her call. It reminded me
of our life ten years ago. After Barb and I retired we moved from
the northwest to Arizona's Sonoran Desert and stayed four years.
Coyotes thrive there, feeding on whatever they can find--mice, bugs,
and even cactus blossoms (I could tell by their scat). Many times at
night we listened to the pups learning the art of howling.
By the time they reach adulthood they have a 34 "word" vocabulary,
according to the University of Arizona at Tucson.
We learned many things about the web of life that we shall never
forget.
Best,
Scott

sensual experience of wilderness. Sound of unreachable quality,
seeming weird and inhuman. But not unearthly. For it is of the
essence of the creature wolf: of his spirit, his being, his truth. A
transcendental song that took form uncounted millennia before time
was defined. Something elemental. A living call from the past. A
revelation of the very Universe.
