Thanks Jane,
I imagine you have some pretty rich stories to tell about classroom
events. Nothing remains constant when young people are involved.
Barb and I are not native Texas people, so we weren't aware of
the "two-step" voting program. And I can't say I've thrilled to
learn about it.
We voted a week early and I thought we were done. Then came primary
day and the super delegate event. We didn't go. It was cold.
At 11:30 we turned in and switched on KLIF radio. A field person was
reporting from somewhere near Dallas that she had voted at 4pm. Then
at 6:30 she got into the two-step line. At 11:30 she was still in
line and still outside in the cold. Someone told her there was room
for 400 people inside. She estimated close to a thousand were
outside with her.
Being the two-step, maybe they thought we were going to Waltz Across
Texas? Frankly, I think we're getting jerked around here.
I've been through PA many times. It must have been a grand place
when Will came on the scene.
My first trip followed the Penn Turnpike in June 1963 and I was
driving a 1957 VW. I was on my way to NYC to put my car on a ship
and then spend the next three years in the West Indies. I was taken
by the red brick churches contrasting against the greenery.
Best,
Scott down yonder

> Hi Scott, Welcome to the group. I'm Jane from Pennsylvania -
that state with the very late primary that people are suddenly
looking at very closely - it might matter after all! Anyway I
retired four years ago and I can't imagine having time to be bored. I
am caregiver to my 100 year old mother - and she is a very active
100! There are so many books to be read, walks to be taken, friends
to have lunch or dinner with, trips to take to Texas every year and
other places from Ocean City to London - No I'm not wealthy, few
retired teachers are - just restless to see as much as I can. The
retired in our department (Geography/Earth Science) get together
often. I could sure use 8 - 10 day week. And soon it will be spring
and there will be gardening to do. If there is one thing I'll never
understand it's boredom :>). The job I have right now is not
pleasant - I'm cleaning up the mess from water in the basement after
three inches of rain yesterday but even that has some rewards as I
see lots of things to throw out or to bring out in the light to
treasure again. Well, I better get back to that. I know you will
enjoy this great group. Jane
