I would not even last 5 minutes! Reading Deprivation?
well, dig a hole in the ground and bury me alive! I would probably
fare better. I read anything that comes in my hands even menu cards
by the way :-))
However, I did try a variation of some sort of deprivation. I once
tried a week's deprivation of " No News" on TV or any media. Even
told family and friends I would not want to know any "sad" news
whatsoever!!
Amazing thing was I realised my world was pretty much like a soap
bubble! I enjoyed the " news" isolation so much! I was less inclined
to get "affected" by the atrocities happening in the world and I
never wanted to come back from that! It is a lovely de -stressing
exercise. However, I was brought harshly back to reality -breaking
out of my so-called "trance" upon hearing through a friend at work
the sudden horrendous assasination of Benzir Bhutto in Pakistan! It
was absolutely a horrible way to "wake up" to the harsh real world
around you.
I know my response is late but it was deliberate..
longer than a few days in this matter.
Enjoy the reading and good to have you back so soon!
Cheers
Sharmila
