Thanks Julie,
Barb, my wife, has three parakeets--Felix, Lady, and Penny. Each
morning they have so few regrets to worry over. And they tell the
world of their joy in voices that redefines the phrase, "belting out
a song."
If I approach their cage they fall silent, listening for what I have
to say. But as soon as I turn away they resume their chatter like a
movie that's been on pause.
They remind me of the three loafers who leaned their chairs against
the the front wall of Boggie Lint's Barber Shop when I was a kid.
Everyone was talking. No one was listening.
