Hi Scott, Welcome to the group. I'm Jane from Pennsylvania - that state with the very late primary that people are suddenly looking at very closely - it might matter after all! Anyway I retired four years ago and I can't imagine having time to be bored. I am caregiver to my 100 year old mother - and she is a very active 100! There are so many books to be read, walks to be taken, friends to have lunch or dinner with, trips to take to Texas every year and other places from Ocean City to London - No I'm not wealthy, few retired teachers are - just restless to see as much as I can. The retired in our department (Geography/Earth Science) get together often. I could sure use 8 - 10 day week. And soon it will be spring and there will be gardening to do. If there is one thing I'll never understand it's boredom :>). The job I have right now is not pleasant - I'm cleaning up the mess from water in the basement after three inches of rain yesterday but even that has some rewards as I see lots of things to throw out or to bring out in the light to treasure again. Well, I better get back to that. I know you will enjoy this great group. Jane

Thanks for the welcome, Sharmila. I've not been to the places you've
mention.

Barb and I retired nine years ago next month, but not without some
nagging doubts. A friend reminded me that a job was five days and
retirement was seven. He was bored silly. So, I wondered what would
become of us. Would we waste away like him, or did we have a life?
We had/have a life.

Ham radio, reading, fiction writing, and groups such as this one are
the driving forces that rolls me out at 5am and sometimes keep me
busy until 11pm.

Most of the activities mentioned in the preceding paragraph are not
physical. Barb and I have been riding a tandem bicycle for about 18
years. When the weather permits, we ride it to a supermarket two
miles away. Sometimes we have some pretty feeble excuses for taking
the pickup, but as fuel costs increase I'm sure we'll use Myrtle more
often.
