Linda,
I'm a fan on those PBS "reality" shows (that's what they are,
I think LOL). Though I only got to watch the first Dvd of
"Colonial House" (library copy... by the time I got to watch it
I realized the second disc was missing), I found it fascinating.
I went to see the reproduction of the "Jamestown" settlement in
VA a few years back... and the houses on the show seemed MUCH
bigger! Not a period of time I would have chosen to go back to.
Actually there aren't many... I'm all too fond of plumbing and
toilets :). And I'm a "shopper" not a farmer! I couldn't
grow enough snow peas to make a salad but you'd be hard put
to find someone who could track down the cheapest but best
cuts of porterhouse on any given day within 15 miles of
my zipcode LOL!
My favorite from the series remains "Manor House" set in Edwardian
England. There's also "Regency House Party" (didn't care too much
for that though I loooove Jane Austen) and "Pioneer House" (didn't
see that yet).
