I mean like it took me years, lots of encouragement, several
moves, two children, two instructors, two psychiatrists,
one psychologist, five medications.

Aaaah...
Simple. Time, date, day of the week, weather, what the sky
looks like, what you're wearing, what you plan to do today.
Go from there...
These seemingly little details are a kind of "anchor."
Especially when you write stream of consciousness.
day starts to blur into the next.
