I think it has always been that way. Every era had their "bad guys"
that everone lived in constant fear of. Its just that these days the
stakes have been upped.
Instead of one person at a time being lynched or burned at the stake,
instead of a band of outlaws shooting up a few dozen people at a time,
when our bad guys attack, they kill hundreds of people, thus making it
seem like a bigger tragedy.
Plus, with there being so many more people, there is also that many
more bad guys in the world.
Either that or they are just getting worse about covering their tracks.
I suppose in the past times the bad guys were not so eager to scream,
"Here I am! Look at me! I'm coming to kill you now!" They just
tried to do their evil deed, and have said deed over and done with in
the "dark of night" and to take as few "innocent" with them as they
had to.
Surely even bad guys have morals.
Okay, I'm rambling now, I'll hush up and go eat supper.
